Very cool. Love those banded rocks. There is also a Garden of the Gods in CO. Now I have two I want to go to.

Great pictures. When I saw the thread I thought it was for the one in CO since I didn't know about the other one. Glad you showed it to us.

I have been in that area before. I use to go deer hunting with my dad and his buddies down in southern Illinois near Camp Ondassonk in the Shawnee Forest. There are places just like what you have pictured here. One spot we use to camp had old carvings on rocks and had little cave like area. Then you would be walking in the woods and come across a bunch of huge individual boulders scattered in an area. They were at least 10 ft tall. Weird that they were in the middle of the woods like they were just thrown there by a giant or somthing. A friend of mine would go down there and do that rock climbing stuff on them. I keep telling myself that I want to go back there to walk around and camp for a night. Its been at least 15 years since I was there and we had a really cool spot to camp and walk around at. Also in the middle of the forest I was walking for a while and came to a drop off and there was a train track at least 50 ft straight down. It was kind of an eerie feeling and a crazy place to see train tracks. At teh time we were friends with the game warden down there. He lived really close to where we camped and one night he stopped by to check our guns and stuff. After that night he invited us to his house to stay. His name was Casey Batha, big ol dude. Him, his wife and their bloodhound dogs were in a big movie. Cant remember the name but a plane went down and they were tracking an inmate. They were at the beginning where they were in the woods coming down a hill with their dogs tracking Wesley Snipes, the fuguitive. We were staying at his place at the time the movie came out. They had a great dream house log cabin out in the middle of nowhere. Loved that place. First time I got drunk. I was 15.lol. They were a very nice family.
U.S Marshals was the movie. Wesley Snipes Tommy Lee Jones. Pretty good movie I thought.
