I know I don't post often. More because before I can answer a question several of you have already said more than I ever could have. Also I don't take pictures of my work often. I but I feel I should post something now and again. So here is the latest ring I've made for myself. The ring is solid 97% silver (I cast it with a higher percent to test tarnish resistance.) The stone is Malachite, Rainbow Obsidian, Lapis, and Fluorite. Since the of the four stones are kind of soft for a ring its capped with clear quartz.

That's very cool Tom, nice looking design and the stone combination works great.

Beautiful ring. It's pitty you don't post your work more often here. The stones go so well in that combination. Regarding these stones, I have two questions: - About the thin silver stripes which sepparate the triangles of stone, are they also covered by the quartz layer above? - How is the stone set in the ring? Just by pressing the silver edges, or did you add some epoxy?

Adrian, The quartz is overtop the silver. After I caped it I was a little afraid it wouldn't look as good this way and thought I was going to have to start over with the stone. But it looked good after I finished the stone so I kept it.
The stone is channel set with the sides holding it in. (Ok I might have added a dot of 330 because I'm paranoid.) So the answer is both.

Your ring shows a lot of different skills, and the result is wonderful! Quartz cap excellent idea!

Very nice ring! Really like how you added the quartz top over the softer (and gorgeous) materials in the inlay so the ring can be worn without worry.
