That is $3.75 per pound, not a good deal. Gonna cost to move it also, be really hard to make your money back.

I missed the part that said 40,000 pounds. I guess that's where the Make an offer part comes in. Sure would be fun to see what's in a whole room full of flat rate boxes, heck I still get excited every time one lands on my doorstep.

--or--
that's $29.89 per member here...I wonder how many MFRB's that would take?
Hopefully, some of this will end up back in commerce somehow for others to enjoy....
Cool post, Chuck; thanks!

at 40,000 pounds that's at least 2,000 medium flat rate boxes full. I am guessing it goes unsold but you never know. I could not imagine the amount of time and labor involved in packing and hauling that much rock.
there's a make an offer option so I bet they get offers but probably no where near the $150,000

Well at thirty dollars per member, RTH could have its own rock shop. I could maybe volunteer a few hours to pack boxes! Who wants to help? JK

If the seller could have accepted $100K then he/she should have started the bid there at the beginning of the sale so anyone who was interested would have had time to make arrangements to view the collection. That $50K price difference certainly would have made a substantial difference for potential buyers. Waiting until the last hour to drop the price was pointless for motivating anyone who hadn't seen the collection in person. Who would gamble $100 sight unseen?

They should have put in the "make an offer" option, then they would have known what interested parties would be willing to pay whether they accept it or not.
