Still learning on the jaspers in Oregon...I pick everything up thats green.....I know there are some jaspers in this bunch.... These dark geen rocks have a very smooth surface to them and don't scratch with a knife......You think they are some type of jade???

Best way to tell is to knock a chip off and look at the broken chip under magnification. If it's jasper, It'll have a conchoidal break. If it's nephrite, with enough magnification you should be able to see intertwined crystals. Also, Nephrite and jadeite will be heavier than jasper.

Not knowing the origin of your rocks [look more like river than beach to me]; the green rock found quite commonly around the Oceanside-Cape Mears area on the coast is often called "Oregon Jade". It is green quartz, generally polishes well, but not as tough as real jade.

Jade?
No.
Break as Don advised. No magnifier needed. Jade won't break! And it it does, it will be a messy hackly break. Not glassy at all as Don described for Jasper's

LOL,looking at old posts, makes a guy realize how much a person learns in a few years time.... All that rock (green jasper)river rock was sold to a guy in Idaho,a few years ago.... Yes,I now have "Jade" sitting on my shelves and its totally different material,by a long shot..
