Weekend at the lake

Christa and I headed out this past weekend to Alamo Lake for some fishing, hounding and some time away from the city. Got there bright and early Saturday morning and spent most the day fishing.





I have done pretty good in the past catching bass by throwing spinner baits, soft plastics and jigs.. but they just weren't interested this time. Prolly another couple weeks before they move shallow to nest. Christa throws out worms under a bobber and caught a catfish and a nice crappie





Lots of migratory birds enjoying the lake this time of year. Not sure what these are but they swim about and dive for long periods of time

Enjoyed some nice juicy ribeyes, grilled some Anaheim peppers, and later toasted a few marshmallows while listening to the coyotes call out all night. Wonderful!

Next morning after breakfast we broke camp and headed a couple miles away for some hounding. Here's a shot from the collecting area





Even with it's great desert camouflage, Christa spotted this cute little horny toad




Spent a few hours collecting rocks, had lunch then headed back home. It was a lotta fun!
