So .. i'm thinking of doing some rock hounding in Portland, but not sure where to go .. anyone have a good spot theyd be willing to share ?

Try Clackamette Park over in Oregon City. There is a description and a map here. One of the more accessible places for winter, though there are better pickings when the water is lower (when it is cold in the upper elevations or at the end of summer).

Some parts of the Columbia River are great too,just look for gravel bars and graveled hills by the shorelines.......

After you're done hounding, head south/west to the coast and visit Tillamook to tour the cheese factory. My favorite sharp cheddar!

Thanks Dennis Your ever in my area,give me a holler,I'll take you to some agate,jasper and petwood places on the Willamette River!! Best times are in the late summer after the river drops!
