They have requested streak test.(i forgot to tell him it is already done). It streaked exactly like a meteor-almost no streak, but barely gray. I find hematite in indian camps in plowed fields a lot. They make red ochre i guess.Anyway,it streaks rust color easily.Magnetite is rare here. There is really not another choice. I am betting meteor-wish that it is Attachments:

I a pumped Brad.It really looks like a wedge out of a 15-20 inch ball if you look at all sides with the melted spot on top of the wedge.......................I am getting the monster magnet and going to see if any particles want to come to papa.

mount a big magnet under an old lawnmower body and push it around the area.

An inexpensive metal detector will find them too, if they're at or near the surface. For the deeper ones you need a good detector or ground penetrating radar.

If it is a meteor i feel certain a metal detector will be purchased. Thanks for rooting for this rock to be a meteor. It is a good material for a metal detector in that it is weakly magnetic.A 9 gram powerful magnet barely hangs to it.It has a 1/2 pound pull on good steel. Here are some more pitures i sent to them today www.flickr.com/photos/67205364@N06/sets/72157632822685529/

That's one cool specimen, James! Have you considered sending pics of it to the folks at the Tellus Museum in Cartersville? There's an awesome mineral and gem collection at the museum. Rick and I went there a couple of years ago when we met some of the Georgia forum members of Gemology Online at the Martin Zinn Expos Gem, Fossil, and Mineral show. tellusmuseum.org/It could be a "Georgiaite." ;D These are quite rare, too!! www.georgiaencyclopedia.org/nge/Article.jsp?id=h-2864Hi, Tammy, do you have any pics of yours?

Can you post a pic of your meteor Tammy?People like to see them, especially privately owned. You are lucky. Is it nickel, iron?I am hoping this to be part of a 382,918 pound asteroid so i can go get the rest of it:>.

Have you ever found a tektite Snuffy? They have found about 2000 in a heavily farmed Dodge county. So i guess they are not real common. And tektites are usually green. That is a puzzle to me.
