OK, Looks like carleton is the winner! <grin> Will check on rates for Canada and let you know. I'm hoping you can send US funds? The bank charges too much to exchange other country's currency. Does anyone know whether USPS Flat Rate boxes or FedEx is better pricing for out of country? Fed EX is certainly faster... Which do you prefer Carleton?

Awesome,
USPS is a bit easier on the door charges, if the flat rate is the $60ish that is perfect.

What are door charges? They charge extra to deliver in Canada or something?

The large FRB to Canada is around $54 but has to be 20 pounds or under. If it's heavier, the price goes up by quite a lot. You will have to fill out a customs form. I think FedEx and UPS charge a brokerage fee for international packages and that's why the Post Office is usually cheaper. Carleton might have to pay some customs/duty fees.

Thanks. It's gonna be around $60 USPS Priority mail. FedEx would be more, but faster.

Yep (sorry for the late reply. Door charges are basically taxes and "stuff". Dpending on the item and such, basically we get charged tax as if we had bought it down the road from a local store. That is the nice way of saying it I have been given 101 reasons, which do not seem to really ever follow consistancy. I dont mind the charges one bit, but its a guessing game. It seems the USPS and CP lump something into thier rates (base rate usally a bit higher) but the extras are rare or minimal. The other couriers are typically 10% - 100% + in a worst case, always a gamble. Carleton

A quick FYI for everyone. When depositing a foreign check or money order, expect it to take 15 days for the bank to "credit" your account with the funds. Carleton sent an international Postal money order in US Funds, and it's still taking forever. I "surrendered" the money order for processing (NOT a deposit they say) on the 19th. They say I _might_ see it credited to my account as early as the 3rd of April. Or not... So maybe next time use western union for cross border money transfers??? I don't have a paypal account, and it isn't worth it to open an account for just one transaction. Thanks, Phil
