Muwhahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!! It's fun to play with power tools, isn't it? Great pieces and reuse of materials! I think to work in any aspect of this hobby you have to have a little bit of mad scientist in you. Don't worry, you're among friends! :cheesy: Very cool pieces and thanks for the post and giving me some ideas! Cathy

That is some serious "outside the box" art work. I love it when people make something from nothing. Awesome pieces. Jim

In many years as a welder things happen that look unique. The mad scientist and psycho artisian are perfect hats to wear. Why not put industrial experience into the jewelry category. Thanks for the likes

Art jewelry! They are definitely in that category! I think the things I like best are the contrast in textures and the different colored metals within the same piece! They're very surprising and viewing them makes me want to touch them. Very cool! Cathy

The cutting/melting process takes less than 10 seconds.Cutting, hammering and soldering back plates takes all the time.Notice the last pic. Those were melted on a continuos strip and cut into sections(of copper bus bar from an electrical cabinet). They are heavy and were really test pieces. But look at the picture above and notice the smoother finish and rounded edges. The burrs and edges were rounded with only AO polish on a one horsepwer 8 inch cotton buff wheel. No staircase of grits-just straight to the polish. Those things sizzle the cooling water they are dropped in getting very hot from the friction.Pushing into the buff wheel so hard that it starts to slow the motor down. All those pieces were buffed like that.Any other grit other than polish destroys the patinas. An 8 inch buff wheel may last 10 pieces if the metal has sharp edges.

I am with you Cathy.Different metals on one item is a winner. Here is a laminate. The back plate is stainless tag,the copper is from a roof, the brass is shimming material for heavy machinery and the the top is sil-foss,or industrial silver solder. Similar I think those have been sold. They are tinkerings.

I like it all: materials and their origin, processes, and results. Tinkering is fun, and the results are cool!

I'm lovin' it!!! It looks like you had a lot of fun, too. I like how it has an organic look, but kinda hi tech at the same time, very cool.

James, those are awesome! What more can I say........................You did really, really good! I am sure those are going to really grab the attention of, in particular, men & all those who love the rough & ragged look, as well as those who love the natural & recycled type of jewelry. I believe that would also include the steampunkers!

You got it right Donnie. The Atlanta urban crowd buys it.A couple wild little art shops in a fast part of the Atlanta loft district.Lots of tatoos, black clothing and skin showing.Dang i wish i was young again!!They like buying the metal. They walk right past the rocks;too conservative i guess.Mostly 25-40 year old ladies that look like they can take care of themselves.I think they are gothic and Sci-Fi mostly.Funny, the male owners let me consign there-saying'finally,jewelry for our male customers!'.To their surprise a man never hardly bought a one of them.Another shop in Sacramento called Bows Collective.Dang i wish i was young again!! A lot of these younger folks seem to have a tighter budget. They seem to buy for their looks and do not seem so concerned about the recycle trend. The other 11 jewelry consignees have much more flowery jewelry and do not appeal to this group.I made all that stuff when recovering from ankle surgery over a 5 month period out of a wheel chair. I hope to do a blend of mixed metal and agate(and coral) to appeal to this crowd eventually. The skill level really goes up when you guys do settings.I have a long way to go.Working metal and stone is a huge challenge.Being production background i get frustrated with spending too much time on one piece and the selling it for $10/hour....And the overseas clan creates tough competition. The economy does not help either.Kudus to those who prosper in this business. More weirdness-

Wow! Those are really cool. I can't wait to show my husband. He has been banging away out in his work shop. He came in and showed me some earrings he has made. He loves his power with a welder. So I am positive he will love your idea. Isn't it amazing what everyone can make with a little imagination! Can't wait to see what you do next.
I do love the keychain!
