One more progression pic.... Well, I went ahead and wove the tourmaline in place, added some coiled coils, and started making up the bail. And here it is all finished up! First, a reminder of what's in it... Ammonite with Austrailian opal, .9 ct pink tourmaline, .32 ct yellow/green tourmaline, .76 ct orange spessartine garnet, 1.15 ct rhodolite garnet, and 1 ct blue-green tourmaline. All wrapped up in sterling and fine silver wire. ( 20,21,24,26,28, and 30 gauges ) Overall, it's 1 7/8" tall by 1 3/8" wide. It's hard to get a good pic of the opal, here's an " enhanced " pic... And, of course... I have to show where most of the work really is. It get hard trying to stash all the ends. I spent just as much time on the back as I did on the front. Also, you can see some of the holes I drilled through the ammonite to hold the pink tourmaline in place. Well what do you think? How'd I do on this one? Chris

I like the complexity, and I like that you have developed your own style of weaving wire. Very organic.

There is a lot of substance (and not just the amount of wire) to your designs!

Wow! A lot of detail in that size of a piece! I figured 3" easy! Beautiful job and I'm really glad you added the opal! Brings out a softness in the ammonite that is wonderful!!!

That's amazing! I'm a little sorry that you can't see how cool a shape the fossil is underneath, but all those gorgeous colors! You really picked out everything in the iridescence to play with. And so many little stones, more power to you. (I'd be cursing up a storm and then some.)
