I just finished another batch of cabs that I started ? months ago. I have had a hard time getting around to it lately but have started working again. I was working only local stone so it had turned into a job and I DON'T WANT NO JOB NO MORE. ;D ;D
Jim (aka jamesp) traded some coral for some Wyoming rock. I think he got the short end of the stick because this is some really nice stuff. The two that I started with I left on part of the natural white ?? matrix. I have been tossing around the idea of spraying the ?? matrix with lacquer so it is shiny but I am not sure it will improve the look. Wha da ya think?
I still need to cut the back side off and polish this one.
Bill (aka greyfingers) Sent some slabbets from all across the lower central part of Montana. This is some awesome stone and I really enjoyed working it.
Grave Yard Plume from Stu. It has some shiny stuff in the dark lines that is not visible.
Wyoming
Some smiley wonder stone that I could not get a good polish on. Any suggestions? Or is it the way of the stone? I made two of these because of the smile so I am pretty bummed out about them.
The only place I find this stone is on Sheep Mountain and it is really difficult to find any of it that is not fractured. The little one is fracture free but much smaller than I like to work. It was bigger before I had to grind part of it off.
This large one has fractures but I could not pass it up because it is pretty big for that area. Just a bit over two inches tall. I wish now that I would have rounded the shape a little more. This is also my first wrap using square and half round wire.
Wyoming ;D ;D
I found this stone in a friends yard amongst a bunch of black river rock. I do not know where it came from but I can not imagine anyone hauling river rock from very far away. I figured it had some color in it but it turned out to be some awesome picture stone. It is a lot like wonder stone or a really tight sand stone but polishes much better than the wonder stone.
The cab.
The slab. I do not have a way to polish slabs but I worked this end cut on my little polishing pads. I love this stuff.
I will end this with my favorite blue chalcedony with quartz crystals. A gorgeous stone given to me by a friend on another forum.
Well, if you have lasted this long I thank you for looking at my stuff. I have been working only Wyoming stone which started getting boring so I think this batch got me started working again because it is a lot of stone that I had not worked before. I want to thank all that contributed to my resurrection.
