This year's show came to a close Sunday. It was a great time. I got there Friday night and set up my 2 cases, learned one of the displayers did not show up, went home, and grabbed a pile of dinosaur bones to fill a gap. I wandered around talking to dealers and club members, and I felt no guilt as my parents had come up to watch my daughter with my wife - so I didn't feel rushed to come home.
Saturday morning dawned and I was up and out to the fairgrounds by 8:30. I took a few pictures of the basic set up - minus the people:
I wandered through the demonstrator section
And found my favorite agate dealer already getting his material uncovered -
He had a couple new things that we haven't seen at our show much -
He had both rough and polished Bahia Agates:
(You'll see what I bought on my other thread).
For the first time he was selling faceted material because he bought a collection/dealer that had the stuff in stock. The most interesting pieces for me were the Helenite - the artificial gemstone made from fused ash from Mt St Helens. The prices were very low so I bought a few to make into a necklace and earrings for my wife.
He also had Sweet Potato Thundereggs - both cut lengthwise and crosswise:
I bought a few things then wandered the displays:
And then a case from my friend which reminded me of Steve's Echo stones, but on a larger scale:
And then there were my cases - the first being the dino bone tossed together out of need. It didn't even have a title:
And then there was my United States case:
And my International case:
There were supposed to be illustrations on the backs and sides, but the local printer that has been open 24 hours forever suddenly decided to open at 9:00. I, of course, discovered this the morning of the show and wound up with barren walls...
Thanks for lookin'
