This group of knappers knows how to have a good time. The event took place at a 'pay by the day hunt camp' and great food cooked in a lodge type enviro. The huntmaster said the knap group was the most honest of all the church groups, hunt groups and wedding groups. He also said they were the ones he would prefer not to cross. It was a family event and most were staying in the cabins on the premises.About 50 people. This fellow worked mostly w/obsidian This is Guy,from Meridian MS Some bone work Preforms, many of local materials.Look up Horse Creek chert This is part of the crew looking over preforms and aggravating each other Most of them used stone projectiles, cane arrows and osage orange straight bows made by hand to hunt deer. The bow was a work of art.The front of the entire bow is between 2 growth rings. The same fiber from the the top to the bottom.

That looks like a fun camp! Those are some serious looking knives and tools in that first picture - wish I could knap my points and blades like those!! But I really like the picture of the preforms - what I wouldn't give to have that pile of material to work on! Great pics - thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing photos of the Knap In, James. Sounds like you had a great time with good people. Love the antlers carved into horses. LOL! I've been really distracted lately:). It takes me way longer to post about rocks, and I try not to do too many 'How nice!' type posts, since at the rate I was going, I'll have the record for the most posts on the forum in the least amount of time.
So I'm trying to post slightly more useful comments when I post something:). Arguing about pointless things (politics) is natural for me, and takes literally a few minutes, and I don't have to spend much time thinking about any of it.
It takes me way longer to think of something insightful or useful about rocks, or rock related topics, all of which I do spend more time considering before I can post. That means when I'm short on time, I save up looking at those topics til I have more time:).
