I just got an order of "80/100 grit" diamond powder. $1.4/gram.
If I were to compare; it is finer than 220 grit SiC grit we use.
Question? Is this normal? Or did my guy send the wrong material?
Please anybody with experience, your assistance is genuinely appreciated.
My sell is totally awesome, so before I make a query with him I wanna make sure my ducks are in a row!

UPDATE: I ordered another size and the seller is including a small sample of guaranteed 100 grit to I can compare.

Scott, I was almost going to answer your first post, but I knew that "grit size" is more complicated than you might guess. A couple different official standards, a couple similar but different ways to measure it, and it's not exactly the same if you're talking loose grit, or grit in a wheel or on sandpaper either. You'd think that loose 100 grit diamond would be the same size as 100 grit SiC though. Looking forward to hearing what you find.

Thanks Daniel. One thing I did find was I can make my own diamond brazing rods for applying diamond to steel sphere-making cups. I also found that the "100 grit" diamond powder I purchased is not coarse enough to do the job efficiently. I was cutting rock last night, but it was slow going.
Mud was made. Proof of concept.
I have 50 grit and a samle of guaranteed for sure 100 grit landing today or tomorrow.

Hey Scott, how do you make your own diamond brazing rods? Inquiring minds wanna know..............Tony I plan to make a page about this process. The first step is to try and buy ready made and have it out of inventory. So then I was frustrated and went to find the patent... and a week later I have proof of concept! Hell, I could even have a new product out of this!

Thanks Jim. I have a box already on the way. I started with the brazing rod project and midway thru changed to diamond segments. I even found a factory that will make them any shape I want. lol
I am mig welding the segments on. The brazing was another method to apply diamond grit to the cups.
