My first large poppy bloom of the season.I will enjoy these blooms for about a month, even though they usually last only one day. Most of them have reverted back to singles over the years Oldfashion petunias breaking out Larkspurs too Love springtime! snuffy

Very pretty and a real feast for the eyes. We get smaller California Poppies around here, not quite as spectacular as your big ones, but still welcome.

Great pics. You are way ahead of us too. Bluebonnets and Texas Paintbrush are really breaking out but our local larkspurs are still tiny and most have yet to even bud out....Mel

James,I cut the bottoms out of 5 gallon nursery pots. When I set the plants out,I push the pot a couple inches in the soil around the plant.Keeps the wind from whipping them, easy to water, and the black heats up and gives them a warm environment. The wind here gusts 25-30 mph here for the next few weeks, thats my main reason. I also bury 1 gallon pots between the plants for deep watering in summer snuffy

You are the tomatoe man.I understand everything and why.Ever used cheap drip irrigation, uses cheap poly and cheap 1/8 inch tubes and a punch.I could connect that field up in less than a houre and less than $50 and reuse at least 5 years- roll it up when done.

The drip i put out so quick uses this punch to puncture common 3/4 black poly plastic from Home Depot and the press in little tubes about 1/8 inch to each plant.Lots of common plumbing fittings for the common 3/4 pipe.Irrigation 'systems' are a pain. This punch type is easy. You would probably rather hand water so you can inspect and baby each plant:>

Them buggers are hard to find when they are little. snuffy
