In Tucson- www.discountagatehouse.netPlus... Using the 'Yellow Pages' on my browser looking in Tucson, AZ. It pulled up about a dozen rock shops. That's the only way I know with out actually going down there or having connections in town.

I want a bunch of good fire agate. Tuscon is loaded with mineral wealth. It is one of the places I had considered going to in Los Angeles doesn't work out.

Ducone,
I thought in an earlier message that you said the temperature was in the 80's and too hot? Do you know how hot Tucson gets in the summer (which lasts from May to October)?
One of the departments at the company I worked for moved down to Tucson. The boss tried to get me to move down to Tucson, he said that you get used to the dry heat. Well, last year, he admitted that Tucson does get hot in the summer!

I live about 100 miles north Tucson and it is hotter here (near Phoenix). They all say it's a dry heat, and granted the lack of humidity does play a part in handling the high temperatures, but once you hit 100 dgrees day after day and even 120, It is HOT. Sure... a dry heat... well an oven is a dry heat too, see what that does to meat, or agates. What ever you prefer. I won't be out collecting a lot of rocks in that heat.
Oh, I probably will, I'm just nuts

Tucson and Phoenix gets unbelieveably hot. I had heard of people frying an egg on the hood of a car. I at first thought it was a parable to emphasize something. I saw it done in downtown Phoenix. I also saw a Volkswagen Beetle windshield pop out of a VW from the heat. My wife's stepfather is close to closing his eyes forever. We are relocating our shop to LA., and are going to attend GIA school there for four years. After being in the land of fruit and nuts Tucson might be a relief. At least they get some snow, once in a while. Life has its ironies. We get to rebuild all over, what a thrill that will be.

I always have to laugh when people say "Oh, it's a dry heat so it's not so bad." Hey, when it's 110, 120 - IT"S HOT and whether it's a dry heat or not - IT'S STILL HOT!
Of course, I would rather have 110 any day than 30 or 40 degrees! I really, really, really hate the cold!
I would really like some Fire Agate too. Man, are those beautiful!
