I came home today from a weekend trip excited to pull out some obsidian that had 3 days in cerium polish. I was so excited to get my Lot-O Vibe and try Krystee's (tntmom) obsidian recipe linked here. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=tottumb&action=display&thread=52088&page=1I got a chance to meet Krystee in person a couple month back and she was so kind to give me a bunch of her famous polished obsidian. Pictures don't do the justice of the perfection she puts into her work. Every piece of OB she gave me had perfect glass finish with zero pits and grooves. My impatient behavior didn't yield the best smooth results but the polish results from using her OB vibe instructions are incredible. I should of had these inside longer before taking pictures. I had them outside for an hour and when I went to set up the light box they went from cold to warm indoors and frosted up a bit like eye glasses. Aside from my impatience on step 1 with smoothing I am so excited about my results. I picked up the Snowflake OB from a ebay link posted on RTH a couple months back. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=buysell&thread=55172&page=1The mahogany and some grey/blue color? was purchased at Jerry's Rock Shop in Kent WA about 5 months ago. Thanks Krystee for sharing such a great tutorial. I can't wait to put a little more patience in my 1st step and get even greater results next time . Matt

I was surprised that the snow flake turned out as well as they did. The white spots on the snow flake were very porus. I used cerium which embedded a bit in the pores. Next time I do it I'll use AO polish so the porus parts will stain white. Might make them look better.

Ah thanks guys, This us my 2nd vibe batch of rock and both with great results. It gives me renewed energy seeing someone I have done take polish. Krystee's instructions are a formula for success. The only thing was my lack of getting those snowflake pieces perfectly smooth and letting tg the pinkish cerium get through. If I can't get the snow OB smoother next time I think I'm going to stick with white AO polish. It's cheaper and will fill the snow up with white polish if I can't toothbrush the polish out.
