I normally stay very close to my saw when cutting rocks and this past weekend, I walked away and came into the house and got something to drink, answered a question my son had and then the dog growled and went to the garage door. I went in and all I could smell was rubber burning and my saw was not turning and it was making a shrill sound. Turned it off and unplugged. Opened the garage door for some fresh and very cold air, took a while to free the rock that had slipped and once I got it out of the clamp, my blade is chewed up and I suspect I need a new feed belt. I just cleaned it up and walked away. It was the first time in over a month I had cut anything and got 3 slabs before this happened. Grrrr. Not even going to look at it for a week or two, I am so irritated about it! When I do look, is there anything else I should check to make sure it is OK? Fran

I'm a slow learner, I've burned up 8 or 10 belts. You must have auto-feed? Since I switched to gravity feed I haven't burned up any more belts. Aside from the blade and the belt, you're probably ok.

That sucks. I refuse to use wingnuts and hand tighten, I only use a wrench. Of course you may have a bookend vise I don't know. Of course this doesn't cure everything either.
