No this isn't new, and it's probably been discussed here but just in case it hasn't:
I personally have not tried this but someone recently told me that people, and a lot of them overseas(im in the US) are taking say 4-6 rock saw blades, spacing them apart with 1 washer and doing hand carvings this way.
I have no interests in this as I have zero artistic talents when it comes to shaping some figure, stone etc.
Just something for some of the creative types here. Like I said this may be old news but i've never heard of it.

Possible that that is done, but sounds rather dangerous for your fingers......

It is a good sounding idea Rob.Diamond has become a lot cheaper. The chinese have reduced the price a lot.Probably because of their large stone industry. And they are big time manufacturerers.

it's how we hand grind our pre-forms into rough spheres. Trims long nails real nice. Removes warts too! Seriously, I've probably spent 30 hours grinding that way with only one mishap that ended in a bloody chunk missing from a callus on my thumb. Hey! At least I don't have girly hands anymore.

yes. I got to use a supergrinder in Salem. six 7" blades with thin spacers. windows rock really fast.
would be hard to sculpt a lot of detail though.
