I have just finished my first batch, I will see about posting some pics later. I just have a few questions on what I should have done different. I originally started with Turritella Agate, Carnelian Agate, and added a bunch of small tumbling rough mix, All from Shawn at Rock Shed. Any way I think most of them turned out very glossy. But the Turritella has alot of bad rough spots exposed. My process was: 10 days of 60-90 in Lortone 33, 48 hours of 120/220 in the Lot o 48 hours of 500 or 600 in the Lot o 24 hours of AO polish in the Lot o In the last 3 hours of the AO polish I added 2 tbsp of Borax. I am thinking that Maybe the Turritella needed more than 10 days of 60/90 Can I take these funky ones and add them back with a fresh batch of 60-90? and basicly repeat the process? Or possibly grind down the rough spots before tumbling? Maybe I just need to be more selective on the Rough.
Thank you Guys appreciate the advice.
Also, I am confused, where would the Ivory Soap come into all this

Turitella has soft spots ranging from a little to really bad. Also, I wouldn't tumble it with carnelian, which is quite tough.
I really don't think ten days is enough for *most* turitella or any carnelian that I have tumbled. Keep an eye on how the rocks look, and move them on to the next stage when they are the shape you want and all flaws are gone. Actually, I should say all flaws that you can get rid of when it comes to turitella.
You can certainly repeat the process. Some of your turitella may be done in ten days, some will take longer. After awhile you will get a better feel for what can be improved, and the flaws that you are pretty much stuck with.

The turritella is a difficult tumble. Most that I have done have soft spots and hard spots so the softer areas always eat away quicker leaving a rough surface. 10 days does seem very short for 60/90 though. There's no harm in throwing those back in your next 60/90 batch and running them through the whole process again. Any rocks I am not 100 percent happy with at the end become filler for future batches.
