Those are sweet!! Beautiful variety of perfection I'm guessing that buffer is another word for filler? I gotta try some filler with my obsidian to see of I can get rid of the frosted edges.

Gorgeous Darryl! With any iffy stone (especially obsidian), I always use 50% ceramics and a couple of heaping spoons of borax (other thickening agents work too.....), and I keep it a little more wet than usual, but not by much. With ob, I just need to see little lines of black from the ceramics sliding across it (not completely gray) and then I know my water and slurry are good!! I keep my vibe barrel stuffed full to the max too with the lid taped on so it wont pop off,..... no banging/frosting happens that way

I forgot to mention, I'm using a vibe (UV-10). Not sure if this makes a difference or not.

Hey Randy: Here are a few Apache Tears in the mix that I didn’t post with the others. They took a reflective shine without and crust, even though they shouldn’t have. Many will run obsidian in a separate load, rather than a mixed load. The Tears were tumbled in a rotary mixed load until near perfect. The Tears were then tumbled in a UV-10 mixed load. I skipped the (SC 60/90) and went straight to (SC 500F), then (AO 1000F), then (AO Polish). Each vibe load had about 40% mixed ceramic media and was overfilled. I filled just above the center cone so that the load rolled against the lid. This reduces the action so you don’t “crust up” the Tears. I burnished between each stage and used a separate Polish bowl. Darryl.
