he was my mentor..(in the machine shop business)...and the one that held out hope for me...when i was drinking and being the fool.
he came to see me today...and we talked for a few hours....and rocks came up....seems he knew a ton...small world huh.
just thought i would pass it along...kev.

How interesting. I, too, was a machinist in one of my previous lives. Never connected it with rock tumbling before, but there are a few connections, I can see,

Welcome swampguy!!
That being said,,,,,Where is he?
cpdad,,,,
I'm happy for you that swampguy stuck with you through thick and thin. One of the saddest times in my life was when I quit drinking and NONE of my so called "friends" would have anything to do with me. They still don't after more then 10 years,it still bothers me and it always will!
You have a true friend in swampguy,,,,,,,,,,You're both VERY lucky people!!

well i havent quit drinking totally ..its just he said i better get my prioritys straight..and become responsible for my actions...which i did...and now drink very little...and only beer. just a little background on swampguy...about 10 years ago..he had a brain anurysum...while at work the symptoms hit him...he had major brain surgery...and was pretty much a lost soul for about 8 months...he didnt know a thing. but he is now a lot better...and the rock thing is kind of flowing back out...i just got off of the phone with him...he was telling me about his homemade cabbing machine...his sphere making machine...how he did his tumbling...made everything hiself..basically a good conversation..and very interesting. he said he still has problems remembering what he did last week...but everything before is spot on for the most part. it was cool listening about his rock hunts thru arizona and up thru south dakota...he said he will be around...not a good typer he said....kev.

Very Cool cpdad- glad you got that drinking under control (I have mine undercontrol too- I don't drink at all anymore- that is how I control it!) And connrock- Honestly man- if your"friends" can't accecpt you for who you are now- well then You really don't need em- I lost a few "friends" when I lost the booze I am a lot better off with out Either!
