Hi just found this site looks great, I am moving to rural spain in the next few years and our solar system will not be able to run my tumbler at night what are the risks if I run it only during the day and turn off at night Thanks Ann

for starters everything will take a lot longer to tumble!! seriously though, turning off the tumbler will result in all the grit settling to the bottom half of the barrel and when you turn it back on it will be out of balance until the grit and whatever you are tumbling loosen back up to continue tumbling.
This may or may not happen... the belt broke on my small tumbler and it sat for most of the day not tumbling... I was able to loosen up the material inside by vigorously shaking it for a minute or 2 then putting it back on the tumbler, after changing the belt. however, when I opened it up for clean out, I found a large amount of the grit was stuck in place and didn't loosen up so the rocks hit each other a lot more and didn't come out as I would have hoped for. But I was also doing a pre-polish so the grit is very fine to begin with... for the courser grinds as long as you shake it up well before tumbling you should be ok. I usually shake the barrel with a twisting motion to agitate it as completely as I can to loosen everything up. shake it well, turn over so bottom is at top and shake it some more and then it should be ok to tumble. But this is my opinion and what I do, others will chime in too !! Good Luck SPain is really nice and ther ae rocks there too !!!!

Lucky you. I love Spain. The people and food are great. Some great rockhounding areas over there too.

Sure wish I was going to Spain again. I was stationed there for four years at a base called Torrejon AB, which was close to Madrid. At least it used to be as the Spanish Government basically booted out the military back in the 90's sometime. All in all I enjoyed my tour of duty in Spain and wish I could afford to go back for at least a week or more to visit.

Ah yeah, I've been all over Spain. Barcelona and Palma were my favorites. Also been to Cartagena, Rota, and Malaga.
