I know I have more rock than I could possibly cab in my lifetime, and I know I'm not planning on stopping getting more anytime soon! Most of us have seen bits and pieces of rth'ers rock stash www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=493334680714108&set=vb.100001127411464&type=2&theater. but I'd like to get an idea of ALL of it, or at least the bulk of it. 'Hi, my name is Diana, and I'm addicted to rocks' Okay, I showed you mine, Can I see yours?

When it stops raining I'll get pics of my shed, the front porch, the breezeway, the living room, the garage and the basement. Somewhere over a ton of rocks.

Yikes snuffy!! Lol, okay, I scrolled the first and thought, 'Oh, that's not bad, he's really organized!' then I scrolled down and saw more, and more, and more! I'm totally selfish on starting this thread, 'cause I just ordered another box of goodies from Jamie and was feeling guilty. Can't wait to see yours, Don!

Hey snuffy, Do you have that little barbeque full of rocks too ?
Dee, mine aren't nearly as well organized as snuffy's.

Snuffy's got me beat, I think. Definitely on neatness, although those flat rate box look real familiar. I've got them all over the garage, probably about a ton and a third. The drawers have slabs, except for the one that has preforms, the underneath shelves have flat rate boxes full of fill in the blank. Against the other wall is the "must slab when weather gets better boxes, then the metal shelf has stuff to be tumbled, as do the cabinets around the sink. On top of the cabinets are slabettes sent by friends, and small "must be slabbed" for the 6" saw. I need new batteries before I take photos. Most of us probably look like we stole boxes from the post office. Feeling less guilty, Dee? Think you might need a few more? Last winter I decided that enough was enough and that I needed to discard those I would never use. I was very brave and ruthless narrowing the stash down--I actually had a discard pile with five rocks in it, but I brought one back in. These are not just rocks, you understand, they are mementos of trips, gifts from friends, purchases on this board (we won't talk about the Ebay stuff).

Good grief... now I'm worried. I already know I'm not 1/10 as organized as Snuffy with the rocks:P.
Susan... you had 5 rocks in the discard pile and had to bring one back... BWAAAAHHAHAHAHHA!!!
That's my kind of brave and ruthless:)!

Lol, Susan, that's too funny! Um, Helen, how is YOUR stash growing? I've really been good about giving rock away. I have 3 bowlfuls as well, ready to give away during a chicken coop tour that I'm in at the end of May. 'Come look at our chickens, take home a rock!'

Dee... my rock stash has gotten so big, I have lost control of it:P. Seriously. Not very long ago, I could say... hrm... wonder where I put that <fill in the blank rock>, and I could go right to it. I am possibly the most retentive person I know, neurotic to the point where I remember where I put the picture of my mom and the wallet where I put it... 35 years ago, and can go right to it. And I have so many rocks, I can't remember where a piece is anymore.
How many is that? Well, if I knew that, I'd know where I put individual rocks... O.O. I need to organize, and just stop accumulating!!! I'm going to Vegas in a few weeks to meet up with Susan, and so the funny part is that we're both sitting here complaining about how many rocks we have already... and ... um... we're about to get MORE. Matter of fact, we're both traveling thousands of miles to get more... um. Do you think that's a sign of brain damage?

Helen, Dee, et al., it is much easier to have more than you can remember. That way, intermittently you can "re-discover" a certain rock or slab. This helps to dampen the need to purchase yet another one. . .or ten.
Poor Snuffy is faced with an emptiness in his amazing inventory when he tumbles some, the rest of us do not have that issue.

My stash is all over the place too but I have been working on organization in some of my free time. Here's some of my slab storage in the shop: Here's some of my type specimen storage: Here;s just one drawer of several where I have my slab type collection I use for ID purposes and photography: Tumbles for the kiddies and the shoe boxes contain my rarer rough and nodules both cut and uncut. Rough storage. Just finished totally reorganizing all of this: And finally, my piles of local flintknapping flint along the fence:

Wow Snuffy, If you don't have the largest rock stash it must be the most organized.

Helen, I want to come too!!!! Which I can't, but wow, what fun that would have been! Is there a show in Vegas? I am incredibly random, so for you, sequential knowing where everything is, except your ROCKS, yikes, that must be alot! lol. Fossilman, nice stash! Are those red containers old coffee containers? Sabre, now neat!! And labels too! I think you have the most polished side yard of anyone too. Susan, I do that all the time. Go through a container, and go 'oooh, this is cool!' as if I've never seen it before. I find better stuff in my stash than the local rock shop, and with my short memory, it's a nice way to spend the afternoon.

COME DEE!!!!! You are so close, it's like a few hours right?? Susan and I are hanging out the 26 and 27, and our plan is to go to Cactus Joe's for rockhounding on the 26 (ok ok, this isn't REALLY rockhounding, but close enough:)). I'm only going because my mom has an ancient reunion to attend, and I'm the baggage carrier:P.
The only show we have booked so far is David Copperfield. I've never been to Vegas, or ever seen a live magic show, well, of a famous person anyway, so that sounds exciting:)!
Dang...the men here must be the most organized I've ever seen. Looks like your wives trained you guys to be neat well... while my husband trained me to be a slob... how embarassing. I'm inspired to sort my rocks after I get back!!
