Howdy folks, Just emptied out my UV-10 from final polish again. Mostly a mixed batch but it had my lots of turritella ( Goniobasis) snails, Royal Aztec Purple Lace and the first little bit of my Hornitos lost batch. These ran five days in Tripoli and five in Rockshed AO after the coarse and fine grind. Thanks for looking..... Mel First little bit of the Hornitos Jasper lost batch to come out of polish: ![](http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b377/sabre52/rocks%20april/DSCN7334_zps306e0ab9.jpg) Royal Purple Aztec lace. This takes next to forever to even grind halfway well. Much more purple than the pic. ![](http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b377/sabre52/rocks%20april/DSCN7336_zpsc5ddc6a7.jpg) Some months ago Herchex ( John) was kind enough to send me a box of turritella from Wyoming. After sorting most the free shells were broken and will go into Lowell's tiny mix for the Ventura Club's kids sand sifting booth but I did get a few nice whole shells. Really agatized stuff and takes a good polish. ![](http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b377/sabre52/rocks%20april/DSCN7335_zpsc110f145.jpg) And finally, a few pebbles of agate from Jim ( Wampidy) and one of my south Texas sojourns. ![](http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b377/sabre52/rocks%20april/DSCN7337_zps4d1c83d0.jpg)

I like them all but the Goniobasis is over the top cool stuff. I never have enough patience for five days of A/O polish in the vibe but these look great so keep it up. I am very patient through my rough grind but after they get to the vibe I start to get anxious to see them done.

Chuck, *L* Waiting the five days is not a problem for me as I often get busy and just forget them for longer than that. The coarse grind phase is what give me a hard time. Man, it takes a long time to get ten pounds of coarse ground stuff for the vibe....Mel

James, The snails had only a thin crust on the outside. Took a five day run in coarse to smooth them out enough for the fine grind.....Mel

I was going to mention that silicifications with thick calcium carbonate coating can be removed in 1-2 days with rotary and no grit.Volume reduction for silicified oysters-by morning a full tumbler is less than half full.Pour mud out, wash and add fresh water.Same for coral but not as much reduction. It just saves a lot of grit and concretion...It is my favorite stuff to tumble;in the morning i can see which silicifications have fireworks and which go to the garden pile.
