I'm just getting back into tumbling and splurged on my birthday for a Thumbler vibe. I also have a good Loritone rotary for first step. I'm looking for some good banded agates to tumble. Anyone have some willing to sell, or know a reliable source?
Thanks! Amy

Welcome Amy! The Rock Shed www.therockshed.com is a community favorite. Kingsley North www.kingsleynorth.com has Lakers at a pretty good price. And you've posted in the right place for the best deals (from the members). Chuck

Thanks, Chuck. The Kingsley link really helped. I have ordered a lot from Rock Shed, but I was looking for additional sources.

I ordered from Kingsley, but they must get theirs from the same source where I purchased my first batch. The agates were about the same condition and came with the same slip of paper inside the bag with the same ID number. I keep ending up with small, really pitted ones. I have one batch I got about a month ago almost ready for the polish stage, but they have a lot of imperfections.
I'm really looking for some better quality Lake Superior agates that won't have to ber tumbled to almost nothing. I grew up in Minnesota and spent my childhood years hunting agates along the Mississippi. Now I'm way too far removed from the source (Texas) and have no idea where the childhood rocks ended up.
So, still looking for a good source for sime nice Lake Superiors. I know they must be out there somewhere...
Thanks! Amy

Wow, Chuck. Those are nice ones. Not sure I'm ready to go that far. I just splurged at Woodward ranch a couple weeks ago. I wish I didn't find that place! I have a few small plumes in the tumbler now and lots of other stuff from there to break up. I don't NEED more rocks....but just a few....maybe..... Lol.

I'll post a pick of the Kingsley agates tomorrow so you all can come up with your own opinion... The other bunch I ordered was from rocktumbling.com, which seems to actually be the same place, or uses the same supplier. I noticed my grit from there actually said Kingsley on it, as well.

Anyone have some willing to sell, or know a reliable source? Thanks! Amy I'll try to check my buckets tomorrow, but no guarantees on what I have especially if you want a specific size. If your not concerned about size I can probably put together 3-5 pounds of tumbling mix but the stones will be smaller sized... I'll try to check tomorrow after Dr visit ... see what I have left. too bad you not come sooner just sold out about 60 pounds of lakers small to medium sized and most all banded too!

Isn't Riverbend that place where everything he has is worth more than its weight in gold? Or at least it is priced that way?

hi Amy - If you're still looking, I have a lot of lake superiors perfect for tumbling (about 100 pounds) to choose from. If you're interested I can pick out sizes/types you're looking for. Very reasonable pricing - let me know! Shelly

Awesome! Thanks everyone. I've been reading this site for a while and thought it'd be about time to become a member. Love rocks - all types, minerals, agates, collecting, cutting, polishing. This site is great.
