Howdy folks, Had some time before my afternoon horseback ride so I cut up that palm my wife found on Thursday's trip. Got six slabs ans a nice specimen left over. Palm must have partially decomposed before it was petrified as only some of the vascular bundles are visible and the rest is kind of mossy agate....Mel The slabs. Sorry for the poor pic. Oil has not dried out of them yet. Closer shot:

Really like your explanation of decomposition. I would not have thought of this. Really nice looking stuff.
