These are about as wide as a dime is. The center is "translucent" (I think is the right word I need to use when a light will shine through an object?). They would have been pretty nice if they hadn't fractured in polish. Thanks for you help Tim Attachments:

Looks like carnelian to me, which is basically any agate with orange-red coloring. Unfortunately, with the exception of Brazilian and Pacific Northwest material, a lot of carnelian nodules fracture from internal stresses when cut.....Mel

Wow, Thank you for that. I really didn't know what it was but you hit it on the head it was what I would call a nodule, and I did cut it. I really like this stone, fractured or not. If you do happen to re-read this post again Mel, Thank you. I'll find more, (I hope), then figure out what to do with these cool little gem... Thanks again Mel, Tim
