I had a guy come by to buy some rock. He wanted $3 and $2 and $1 stuff because he was going to cast it in resin to make things like Lazy-Susan.
I sold him a bunch at $1/lb and even more that was going to be $2.75, but I said $2.50 because he was getting so much. A lot of mossy agate, some less-scenic picture jasper, some flint, even some brown dino bone that was not fully silicified. Some fancy jasper that was a bit too orange/red for my taste. ... etc. Few t-eggs, some Brazilian, a bit of pet wood. Over 200lbs at $2.50/lb and over 100lbs at $1/lb, plus some large moss agate done by the rock at about $2/lb.
I had to sort it out of about 20 different buckets while he waited. It took from 10am to 4pm.
Anyway I had a fun day and got $700 more in my pocket. Got about 8 buckets of rock out of my garage too.
Enough to pay my 2012 state taxes due and maybe buy some nice rock. (but not too many pounds.)
A good day!

Awesome! Nice sale, I love to hear about it. I'm thinking 8 buckets may not make a huge dent in your garage~~

true, there were 67 buckets, but I am down to 39.
If this guy had not called to ask about coming today, I was planning to load up some rock and drive down to the tailgate in Stillwater, OK. It would have been over 4 hours drive each way, gas to pay for, and likely not as much cash. Sometimes things just work out.

I had some big rock sales before I left Commiefornia for Texas. Funnest part was I had a lot of Wiccans come to the sale who wanted rocks for their metaphysical characteristics. One gal bought a couple of hundred pounds then showed up in a fancy Mercedes to pick it up. White witchcraft must pay pretty well. I can say they were all real nice folks and I enjoyed talking to them. That's the funnest thing about selling rocks. You get to talk rocks with lots of interesting folks....Mel

that's a great sale, I just wish my tax bill was 700 or less. mines almost 4 times that, and that's only the first half. I have to get out of this corrupt state.

Move to Florida, we have no state income tax, just federal. You get homestead exemption on your personal home for up to $50,000, and state sales tax is 6% to 7%.
However, because we have no state income tax, unemployment here pays the Federal $275 and that's it. It's a bad state to lose a job in, but a great state if you have some money already and stable income.

I have to get out of this corrupt state. it is only covering the part I did not already have. because of a federal award I won that pays down student loans, I have to pay state taxes on this "income" I never actually have in hand. next year I will have to pay both federal and state taxes on this award - I have not completely figured out where in my budget that will come from.

WHOOHOO Daniel!!! That's a NICE sale! I sold a little this weekend too, enough for a new saw blade and some cash in my pocket As far as state income tax, WA doesn't have it either, instead they believe business should pay the taxes so they have B&O (business and operations taxes) and since Patrick and I own a "very" small business, we get slammed quarterly. Usually around $500 to $700 every 3 months. Unfortunately they tax on gross, not what we earn after we pay our employees and subcontractors. It is so gosh darn hard owning a business in Washington.
