Probably coral Brian.Probably not a pile of conch seed string.Each of those 'packets' has 50-100 tiny conchs

Diploria coral? Manicina coral? Looks close.These are fossilized from Florida

Sure looks like coral............Could be a sponge,they are in the coral family...Nice find too..
