Under my name it states "Starting to spend too much on rocks". I realize that is based on the number of my posts, but I passed the level of "starting" a LONG time ago. ;D Perhaps "spending OBSCENELY too much" would be far more appropriate. I bet I'm not alone.

I just purchased 80 pounds of obsidian. I live in Virginia so I'm not really sure what 80 pounds of it looks like yet.

I already have more than I can tumble in 20 years so I'm trying to only spend on essentials to keep me going...

That's one nice thing living in a state where all you have to do is turn around and something really neat is literally at your feet!. I'm from Texas and love it myself. When I was in OR two years ago I shipped about 100-150 lbs of it back home to me in Texas.

In addition to just losing my blade - again - I'm down to about three days worth of rough. That's from about 1,500 lbs last October (in addition to all that I've ordered, which is quite a bit). I have an obsession with slabbing, obviously.

I have roughly calculated that I have enough rock to keep me busy until approximately age 214. Perhaps when I retire I can step that up a bit and complete all of my rock by age 134. I doubt it, though, since I keep buying it. I tell myself it is essential to my retirement.

Hello, my name's Lee. My drugs of choice are agate and jasper. First step is to admit what?

If I have fallen and can't get up, it is probably because I have too many rocks in my pockets :)

this is a funny thread. If I stayt with current methods going to lapidary glass 2 of every 4 weeks on average, I will be able to cut up all my rocks in ten years. lol
I am planning to get a little shop in my garage so I can use up all I have in a year.

At 71 years old with at least a ton of rock in my shed, I really don't need any more rock. Sooooo, I bought another 26 pounds of Tony's killer OB, just in case I live to 120 like I told Uncle Sam I was going to do when I started drawing that Military retirement check. Way too many rocks. Way to little time to cut em all.

I have been thinking about this thread a lot in the last hour.
I obtain rocks at roughly four times the rate at which I can consume them.
I'd like to add to the thread without stealing it. What is your acquisition rate as well as your stash size??

I have been thinking about this thread a lot in the last hour. I obtain rocks at roughly four times the rate at which I can consume them. I'd like to add to the thread without stealing it. What is your acquisition rate as well as your stash size?? Hard to answer this one as it depends on whether I get a chance to hound in the meantime. I spend my summers in SW CO and the rest of the time is the rock barren confines of central Texas. During the summer is when I hound and last year I sent home almost 1,000 lbs of primarily rough, with very little tumbling material. I slabbed through that a couple months ago (I came home in late Sep). I order from Tony fairly frequently and that helps. I also went to Q this year for the first time and between hounding and buying, I brought back another 400 lbs. All slabbed about two weeks ago. What I'm left to slab right now are only those butt ends and other pieces that are currently surrounding several trees in the front and back yard which serve as decoration. So, in short, I'm a slabberholic and I can't find a program that will help me cure myself! Now that I have virtually nothing to slab, I use my wet polisher to polish many of the slabs I have cut. I only do about 6-10 or so in a couple hours and then quit because my wrist gets sore. Still, it beats watching TV in mid-day.
