Maybe in an attempt to bait me and get my location,Fossilman is on my trail. This arrived yesterday. What a bizzare device this critter must have been.Imagine what this would have looked like had it silicified w/those fine western colors Thanks Micheal-it is amazing

It is cooold and rainy here in Atlanta Donnie. All weekend.I hope you are having great weather down on that Florida key. That is the most intense sun radiation I have ever experienced, guess it's the clean ocean air.

Looks like you took the bait! Baculite is the only fossil I have ever bought; it was polished and beautiful. Still is.

that is really terrific wish I had it! The largest I have found is 6 inches across and 4 inches thick and was who knows ? inches long . See pic note the joint structure on the end and that it is pearlite covered but in real life can also the sutures you have so beautifully pictured. Found them at the excavation of a foundation for a MC Donald's n Colo Springs. Find thousands at Bakelite mesa in Pueblo , Co . Dicky

I am amazed at the detail Dicky. It was a no brainer for a photo shoot.Must have been a lot of them in that area you mention.Maybe they were as common as squid.Conditions were favorable in your area for preservation.I wonder if they roamed the entire ocean? Thanks for sharing, post more if get time.
