KCC for the month of May 2013!
Rules:
Nothing has changed,
Entries are not required to be started in the time frame of the contest, only finished by the deadline. All entries however will still require a photo of the slab, preform and finished cab. So no cabs pulled from the drawer.
Things like intarsias, carvings, jewelry, and composite type cabs can not be entered in an effort to keep the contest somewhat fair by just entering free form style cabs.
Again, please remember to include a pic or two of the original slab, then a pic of the preform, and finally, the finished cab.
We ask that all entries submitted to this contest be unique to the RTH version of the Killer Cab Contest. I will do my best to monitor the other forums for duplicate entries, and any duplicates will be disqualified.
You can enter any shape cab and your choice of mineral.
Feel free to share with us what ever you like about the material, the process or what ever else you would like to share.
Cabs posted here are only for the contest.
John (Thunder69) will be sponsoring this months contest again!!!
A big thanks for the generous offer!
If anyone would like to sponsor any months contest, please feel free, we are not trying monopolize that, its just fun to to get a prize, so when there is no sponsor we will keep doing our best to get the winner some material.
Good Luck everyone!
Carleton

I've never done this, would my Kamambi Ocean Jasper cab posted in this section be acceptable? I show the slab, preform, and cab. I haven't posted it on other sites except for my Facebook album.

John, (herchenx) Sounds like a perfect cab to me, I think the original idea was to not have the cabochon entered in any other contests on the net at the same time as this one. As for multiple entries, I would prefer to get the opinions of others on that question. How about I start a 2 week poll on the question and until then we keep it to one entry? If/when the poll decides more than one entry is a majority group decision, that will give you and anyone else another 7 days in this contest to enter the other cabs. I am looking forward to seeing your OJ, its a personal favorite! John, (thunder) Thanks yet again, your materials will be appreciated by the winner! Carleton

Tough time of year Carlton, schools are getting out for the summer and folks trying to get stuff done before the hot days of summer. I'll try and get one in. I bet talkingstones and Roy will be showing up for this months shortly.

Crap, I was gonna do some slabbing and possibly join it today..... but it's pouring outside!! Oh well, maybe it'll slack off later. If not, there's always tomorrow. I always hope for a rain day during the week now and then (day off for me since I do construction) but it always seems to come on the weekend. Grrrrr

I'm thinking folks are holding out till the end of the month so they can post their best for the entire month.

Naaa, they wait until the end of the month so they can out-do what's already been posted. Hmmmm, I'm gonna do some obsidian, Victoria stone and an opal. I don't wanna win, but I don't wanna make it easy either. lol

Ok, I'm in. All of these cabs will be special to me, I'm gonna cab them from materials that were gifted to me by members of these forums....... First is a totally awesome Amethyst sage agate sent to me by Cathy (talkingstones)........ Next is gold sheen obsidian from Krystee (tntmom) with the absolute best sheen that I've ever seen!! ..... And hypersthene sent to me by Christopher. This stuff is wild!! It is one solid color but when the light hits it, zebra stripes all over the place! ;D (disclaimer, I don't know how this stuff is gonna cab) lol

I love the idea of this, I have been thinking about doing a sequence of pics something like "this is how your cab started" in my listings. I can't participate right now because I can't finish anything because ALL my belts are shot. I will be back up very soon so please keep this going.

;D John... well, I didn't cab any opals... or Victoria stone, but I did finish these three and they turned out sweet!! ... So hopefully I didn't make it too easy. Anyone got opals? lol ... I've got to take pics now, I'll have them up shortly. I did, however, forget to take pics of the pre-forms but I'll post the pics anyhow. It makes for good conversation if anything. lol

Alrighty then, here's my cabs. I was having so much fun slabbing and cabbing yesterday that I totally forgot to take pics of the pre-forms, but here's the cabs ........ Amethyst sage from "talkingstones", totally awesome scenery. I'm going to wrap this one for my mother in law.... Goldsheen obsidian from "tntmom", the pic isn't half of what it looks like in person, this one glows!! Hypersthene from Christopher, this stuff is tricky to work with but once you figure it out it's so worth it!! It looks like black tigereye.....
