If a 10 inch 301 gem king is 100.00 to 130.00 why is the 18inch 301 over 400.00 ?less diamonds less metal core but cost a butt load more

How do you figure less diamond & less core on an 18" blade ?

I think he meant the 10" is smaller so less diamonds/core but why is the 18" so much more. The 18" has about twice the rim but core is about 70 percent larger and much thicker. They claim their prices are based on their cost from the Koreans but I remember when the new Korean 301 blades replaced the red notched rim made in CA blades. The 301 existing prices carried over to the penny. I'm guessing it is like gas prices. They charge what the buyers will pay. They are about the only manufacturer that has winter and other sales. They are having a spring sale on most of their saws now but not blades as blade sales have been strong.

plus there may be dedicated machinery for the very commonly sold 10" but the 18" has a lot less volume so amortizing setup and cleanup into a run raises the cost.
Most likely though the answer is simply "because they can".

"The 18" has about twice the rim but core is about 70 percent larger and much thicker." The surface area of an 18” blade is three and a quarter times larger than that of a 10” blade. !0” BD301 is 0.040” thick. 18” BD301 is 0.085” thick. Assuming uniform thickness, the 18” blade contains almost 7 times more steel than the 10”. 6.885 to be precise. ;D

Kinda reminds me of a job I screwed up one time thinking I could replace one 16" pipe with 2 8" pipes. Wrong. LOL. I knew better but it was just one of those things.
