I got this rock from FISH about 9 months ago. When i got it from him it was cut at one end and how a very nice design on it. But a nasty crust on it. So i have had this one rock in and out out my 60 / 90 and 220 / 500 grits for about 9 months and only about 4 days in a polish. I am thinking of putting it back in my 60/90 to see how deep the design goes. ![](http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb346/1act/onerock004_zps3c87ec06.jpg) ![](http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb346/1act/onerock003_zps81482ed7.jpg) ![](http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb346/1act/onerock002_zpse2fe4491.jpg) ![](http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb346/1act/onerock001_zps4f052eb0.jpg)

That thing is way cool. You got nice banding and a bunch of orbs all in one rock. Any idea what it is? I was thinking Bahia agate.

If it was in my care, I'd take a grinding wheel (wet) to that crust and dispose of it quickly. It appears to be all on one side and mostly very thin. Once removed the beast should shine up nicely and in less than months. Good luck.

Yeah, what Tom said, maybe even hand sanding with wet sandpaper will get it done.

It will go back into the tumbler a few more times. Will post it again in a few months.

Yeah I would do what Tom suggests, the issue with the tumbler is that it is indiscriminate, it can wreck nice patterns that are already there along with the crust.
If I have a nice specimen that is close I'll grind it and vibe it.
