No, sorry not bigfoot. I do however have a good friend that's an avid bigfoot freak. Seems signs are plentiful after about 12 beers. I'm not sure how anyone can get that stupid off beer but then again maybe my tolerance is just too high lol. At any rate this was the first find of mushrooms this am, almost a couple dz and that is a 12" saw blade for size comparison. I gave these to the neighbors as we've already ate around 3-4 dozen off their property and they like to have enough for one meal and this batch will make a lot actually. Also.......here is my hillbilly friend in my shop who is proudly displaying this years 'biggest' winner---as of now---that he found. I went again this afternoon and I choose places that are hard to access and use a 4 wheeler. I probably found an additional 75 or so this afternoon and will be shipping them to my sisterinlaw in the am. Last but not least is a pic of a couple of benches I built last night and this am that are in the upstairs loft area of my barn. This part of the loft was extended thus the extra clean ceiling fan that prior was 15' off the ground. I have a ton of stuff to unpack and somewhat organize. Don't really have time for it but it's a start and I needed the benches first. Excuse the super large pics lol, I am beat spent the entire day in the woods and wouldn't you know I haven't used photobucket in awhile and they changed the format and that is enough of a challenge for me right now.

Thanks!
Hi Bill I am in Kansas, app. 50 miles west of KC. I live in the country and luckily we have some main spots within walking distance. It was debatable as to how this year would turn out, this is the week for here. We found them several days ago but I can tell by the growth in the woods and other things like apple trees blooming when they are going to hit.
There's other tricks, I picked areas hit by the sun, remote, and mostly on the east side of the creek.
I know hunting times vary state to state. I'll probably go one last time tomorrow but all week should be good. The undergrowth is getting very tall now.
I prefer to batter and fry them, the neighbors are a little higher on the social scale and had a chef come out and cook them for them.

Hey there, I wouldn't want you to damage your saw trying to slab those. Send them my way and I'll give it a shot. You see I have a special lubricant that would cut through those shrooms like butter. There might be some waste though so what you send might not be returned, never can tell. Depends on what I had for lunch. Always happy to help !

LOL.
So did anyone catch the "I don't have time" and "I spent the day in the woods" ? Mushroom hunting is just an activity that is a must. Been looking for them since I was old enough to walk. Not too many snakes right here in this particular area, they are here but not a lot. I often get yelled at for picking up the big black snakes by the tail that around 5' long when they are in the yard by the tail and slinging them across the road. Apparently my bad dogs have had run ins they just sit there and watch and won't have anything to do with them.

I have hiked SoCal for years. I have found bones of every large mammal around. Why did I never see the bones of bigfoot? Must bury their dead. Very human of them.

the morels popped up last week around here(st louis area). All the guys at my local hall search for them and take pics. They all let each other known when one of them finds any because once the morels start popping up they pop up all over. The morals are like a waiting game. One day they wont be there and the next day they are.

Love eating shrooms in general, going out collecting is something I really miss here in Hong Kong. Has always been an excellent source of dinner and pocket-money since childhood. I think morels are OK, but I prefer chantarelles.

Noooo... Morels are wayyyy better than chanterelles!!! Actually, I can't think of a single mushroom I like better than morels, and I like all kinds of mushrooms:).

I don't screw around with anything other than morels. A lot of people around here will eat the beefsteaks but they have a toxin in them that never leaves your body. You can die after one, or 30 years later it just depends on your level of tolerance. I think I seen a batch of chanterelles but i'm not experimenting. I see articles and pics online but I think I would have to actually have someone train me in person not worth the risk to me.
Personally I love the plain ole deep fried button mushrooms or whatever they are called. In mass quantity.
