This rose quartz comes out of a beryl mine.Beryl was mined for beryllium metal to be used in cannon barrel linnings. It is a massive formation.

We can't carve kk !!!Those were sent to China .I knew you would be impressed. That rose quartz is special because it is so fracture free and breaks into cubes and rectangles. Not the pinkest, but has the wild shine in it.

Sorry for the late reply. Somehow missed your answer.
What do you mean you can't carve? The best artists these days are not in China anymore. Mass-produce maybe, but other than that, the best carvers these days seem to come from Russia and other places.
China still has a large pool of artists, but the ones who look like they are on top of their game today, seem to have their head stuck deep in their backside and will not come up with anything other than traditional designs that have been done a million times.
I for one, look to the west (on the forums) if I want to invest and have my ideas turned into a proper piece of jewelery. Can do it here in Hong Kong, but it costs the same, and usually the artists here on the forums can realize my ideas better than the local guys, because the locals insist on their local traditions not being diverted from.

Check it out Scott.Hogg mine changed hands but Rodney still owns some of the massive rose quartz out crops.I have found big enough for 3.5 inch sphere probably when going as kid.Fracture free chunks 2 x 2 inches common. General rocks board is rounding up a trip to the mine(Kevin).
