Do any of you use the Thumblers single barrel tumbler? I have a chance to get one cheap but don`t want to buy something to keep working on if it is a POS.

:2cents: I've got a little one. I'll probly catch flak, but with arthritis in my fingers I've found the Lortone to be more user friendly. Later Clyde

The single drum if Model T has a Lortone like skeleton frame motor. The AR1 has a beefier motor like the AR2 and up. The barrel is same 3 lb. barrel used on both. The AR-1 has a big motor on the frame in clear view. The T motor is in a housing like Lortone. The o-ring retainers on all their small barrels takes some getting used to but work OK.

I agree that the Lortone is more user-friendly but I also find the Thumler to be a better machine. Much better.

I love the 15 lb thumbler tumblers, the smaller ones not so much because of the ring setup.

Thank you all for your responses. I have to check which model it is but if it`s still there I`ll probably get it for the $60 or so he wanted for it. Looked like someone bought it and grew impatient as some of the grit it came with is still there.

We have two model T's, both obtained used, and they both work well with a normal regular cleaning and oiling. One thing I did do was cut the rivets so I could get at the inner motor bushing and lube it with a drop of 20 wt. every few months. I put a drop on each bushing. Hold the motor/cover back down with a couple sheetmetal screws. We had leak problems when we got the units, put on new o-rings from a local auto parts/industrial supply store, made sure they were good and snug fit.

I'm using AR1's and AR2's. Both have worked well for the past several years. Had to buy additional lids but that's not a big deal. Occasionally thought about purchasing the 15lb'er that Tony mentions but ...
