Anyone else have this new book? I just got a copy today. It looks great, and is beautifully potographed. It seems to cover the geology of all my favorite jaspers (e.g., picture, poppy, stacker orbs)
It will take me a while to read, but I hope to make some headway tonight.

Nope, don't really read the rock books - and I'm sure it shows...
Curious - how much did it run you? Those things tend to be expensive.

Oooh. Thanks for the heads up Daniel!!
Quick question... does the book ID Agates and Jaspers, or is it just theory? The front cover has a lot of great pix, but does it DESCRIBE the rocks in the pix, or is it just used as 'examples' of the formation THEORY? (which I frankly don't care about).
Also, are there photos and ID throughout the book, or is it mostly text. The description of the book (theory and geological model) is not interesting to me at all. I would buy a book that ID'd rocks I have, but not a book that is about rock formations, origins, and geology. I know I know, that's the fascination for many rock people... but not me:).

there are photos throughout, and names/ID are given for rocks in photos. but its real strength beyond ID is to describe process by which features form, so you can recognize similar process at other locations.
this was cheap. several sites have it for $45, only thing that varies is shipping.
