Finally found a spot that doesn't have any people hunt it-come up with some nice finds..I was climbing trees, low crawling and wading in knee deep water to get to this spot - I made it to find some nice stuff.(I guess I'm a rockhounder) LOL Green jasper... Nice fist sized piece of petwood... River quartz......... Banded carnelian agate with a quartz end.. Nice banded agate..

Yup Mike. You're hooked. lol That green looks like some killer material. You need to find the source and file a claim.

They are all sweet, but that green.... have you tried cutting it in 1/2? Because it looks a bit like rainforest jasper. If it looks like that, and there's lots of it, you maybe should file a claim...

Cool rocks! I think you should make a video of the trip next time. You climbed trees to get there?

Not climb trees as you think, but limbs of trees about two to three feet off the ground, that are right next to the river(so I could get to the banks on the other side of it)..LOL One spot I low crawled 10 feet under limbs and brush to get to the other side of it too... I'm so freakin' sore today, hips are on fire..LOL But it was worth it... I know,a video would be fun wouldn't it!!! Maybe I'll invite Clyde to go with me next time.we can video tape two old men climbing and crawling around and in trees.....LOL.... But instead of GI-Joe's,it would be GI-Old's....LMAO....What do ya' think Clyde...

I'm sure I couldn't claim anything in this area...Lots of farmland and Rock quarries already there....Plus I think its still on "Park" land...

Finding the source would be the hard part. Weeks, maybe months following the trail upstream until you finally find the place where that beautiful green material is weathering out of the side of a hill. Little stashed piles of green material hidden along side of the stream with careful GPS notations. Slowly the tumbled pieces would get larger. Pretty soon you'd start finding pieces that weren't worn smooth by centuries of tumbling downstream. Time to start looking on the hillsides. Also time to invest in a team of pack mules to haul the big stuff out. If you're far enough off the beaten path, don't worry about a claim. Just stockpile it at home and sell it a little at a time.

Will be headed up river another 12 miles in a few weeks to some new gravel bars my friend told me about-its a hike, but should turn some stuff up...(he is a plant man,not into rocks)..
