Hi there everyone. Have not been around for the past couple of weeks as life got in the way,.... but.... having a holiday today, plus most of the work done, I'm back into stone. Have been into this piece over the past 2-3 weeks and little by little getting closer to the finishline. Its Indonesian Jasper with copperinclusions Stage 1 Stage two And where I ended up today Now, still gotta do the mane and the back, plus deepen some features and hope to finish somewhere next weekend. Have a great weekend everyone, Kurt

Love the expression on his face. Jo Saw a picture on FB and that lion had just such a cute near comical expression on his face that I had to try it.

He looks great! I bet polishing carved stone takes a while with all the crevices. Do you polish with dremmel bits with stone carving?

Thanks everyone. Do you polish with dremmel bits with stone carving? Not yet. That will be the next stage in order to get sharper edges and hence more pronounced results. For now, most of the polish is done with sanding-paper, followed by 50K diamond-paste on felt and leather.

It's a thrill watching the cat come alive, knowing it was in the stone all along, but only you could see it You definitely have mad skills, Kurt, I'm glad you found them. T

Not much has changed, but its finally ready to wear. Here is a close-up of the copper-sheets contained throughout the lower half of the piece: And the best picture of today: Its a heavy weight coming in at two inches by 1 and a quarter (49 x 35mm) and at 31g/156ct Now on we go to "Snailman" (have been obviously watching too many cartoons lately ) and the finally to finish up the eagle (something long overdue by now).

Yeah, but as you can see in the recesses of toes and under the leg, I still have tons of room for improvement. Yet as I will call that one my own again, I'm in a hurry to move on to something else. If this would be for someone else, those things would need working out, which means another week or so.
