Just got the latest parcel from Daniel in Indonesia, and yet again while the material has got the same name "Pawancawa" its completely different. Love that stuff. This time, he send me material that at times has more Agate or opal (dont know yet) than jasper and you can see light going right trough it. This stuff should achieve dept easily. Some blue delight with coppersheets Coffee with cream And nice black color plus another one of those nice dentrites. There is more, but thats a taste of what has me on cloud nine. But the cream of the parcel came with his IGS. To be honest, I was not convinced about all that fuss around that material. My relationship with it uppon seeing the pics over the past few weeks was rather like I have with white diamonds: Like the look of it; but don't really need them for that price. Seeing the pieces wet in my hands, changes that perspective a bit. Adore the color and variety. Now lets see, if I can do something with it to justify the hype. In any case; I think I couldn't be in a better startingpoint with this material. If it gets messed up, it will be entirely my own fault.

Wow!!! Daniel has KILLER material! My eyes keep going back to Pawancawa picture #1. But, I LOVE them all!!!!!!!
I'm so glad you posted this as tomorrow is a completely free day for me..... I have got to go pull out the few pieces of gem silica that I bought from him and cab them up! I only have one tiny piece of the premium IGS you showed but I did get some pieces of the IGS with baby blue plumes!

Looking forward to your cabs Krystee. Personally, I will take my time before cutting into the blue or green sections. Will likely cut away the dark parts and work on them first.

Wow! Have seen none of those before. Really wild looking materials....Mel Not really surprised about that, even for someone as well versed as yourself. There are a few things coming from Indonesia, that are normally not exported. Pawancawa is usually used locally and certain types (there are at least 17 subtypes) are bought up by the Chinese. Now, as more people get on the net, we get a peek from time to time of material that has virtually never made it into the west. We are just lucky to have gained a friend in a fantastic artist and small-time dealer in high quality material.

I'm astonished every time I open the "Agate collectors" page on Facebook. Its fantastic to see something completely new, every single time you get there.

Thank you everyone. Kurt, what is the green & black stone? Have not yet cut into, but I think its jasper-opal mix. At first sight, it looks a lot like the material I used recently in for the phoenix and the lion (on hand of the reddish and cream colored sections) but might have a better finish.
