After the Sandwich post, I am so curious to see how many of us rockhounds are OCD or Anal Retentive.........same thing! I am extremely OCD with everything having to be in the correct spot or order or I freak out! My shop is extremely organized and everything has a label. My house has to be clean and everything where it belongs. My pantry is organized with the veggies and fruits in proper order. And YES my slices of bread have to match! How about you guys and gals? Lets have some fun!!

*L* Like I said before, I'm a broken toy. My main compulsion centers around doors and gates. I know I shut them or locked them but sometimes get so compulsive I just have to go back and check. Which, in a way, is good around ranches, but can be time consuming. *L*.....Mel

Excellent poll, Sheri Of course I’m a hot mess. as anyone who as visited me will testify
suppose I always have been past is all disorder, present more so, and future looks pretty loose unless I find my better half then I’ll get some semblance of balance I was hoping the rocks would tighten me up but I have jasper's mingling with serpentine's my agates hanging out with turquoise just terrible
so mostly a loose rock…. mohstly

I am very OCD about collecting/buying rocks and having to start projects. Not at all anal about things in order. I seem to work best when stuff is about 75% in order. I need enough space to work, but I would never work if I kept trying for perfect order. I also prefer to color outside the lines in matters of design and "orthodoxy" about cabbing and setting.
SO I don't seem to have a category.

OCD on a very limited basis. In most areas I'm very sloppy.

OCD only when it's something I deem important. :-D ... Otherwise, close enough is good enough.

I am very OCD at work but I wear myself out with it and am a completely disorganized mess with the rest of my life. And I like it--the disorganized mess, that is!

With alot of things, like my fossils, woodworking, construction, gardening and photography work,I always thought if you don't do it the right way and do it perfect,it wasn't worth doing! I never thought it to be OCD....I think of it as perfection and satisfaction!!! Do it right or don't do it at all!!! I'm new at the rock game, been into the fossils forever,so maybe in a few years "rocks"will be added to the list... As a kid I think I had OCD..I had to walk a certain way going through doors and a few other odd ball things.I knew it to be strange and forced myself to quit doing that(I did).. The mind is a powerful tool! I have a strong will power and can force myself to do most things..I quit smoking(cold turkey),quit drinking...Quit drugs as a young man!! I just put it in my head, its bad, quit doing it and I stick to my thoughts and will power! Everybody can be their own Psychiatrists,we all have the same brain and mind, some use it different than others...As said,"You can accomplish most anything,if you put your mind to it".. Now this is only based on my thoughts and my opinion on the matter....

I like all the beer bottles in my shop fridge out of the box and all facing label forward. Does that count? Not sure why, I just like the way it looks and don't want to grab a bottle of water by mistake I guess.

On a serious note I consider myself to have quirks, don't really consider it OCD I like what I like. Friends that violate these little rules aren't really much of a big deal. Let a coworker do it and watch what happens lol. Of course im talking about years past as I haven't worked a real job in years. If someone gave me a sandwich with the bread turned around yes I would def not be happy with that.

I remembered this thread today when we had a small issue with a client. One of the finish workers left little black scuff marks all over our clients brand new bright white porcelain tile!
I about lost it. I sold the job on the cleanliness of careful nature of our workers and this guy scuffs up the gorgeous floor. So, I learned I am OCD about my promises to clients being broken. The boss spent over an hour polishing off the scuff!
