wow, 80 pounds will make a whole lot of slabs but looking at these photos I can see your going to have a lot of fun with this stuff.
I have been real good about not sending tony anymore money right now but you guys sure don't make it easy posting pics like these. I hate when house payments interfere with great deals on rocks ... lol

Okay, I've always been nervous about trying it, and I've been gifted some from you Paul, and I just need to jump in! I guess I'm afraid it'll chip easy, or fracture into pieces if dropped... but wow, I've seen Krystee's cabs and others here...it's on my to do this weekend!!

Obsidian cabs really easy, it's like agate... almost impossible to mess up. As for dropping it, don't drop it. lol

I think I need a new 3rd wheel on my Genie...I'm getting uneven domes on the obsidian I tried today! very frustrating. Alas, not easy for me!

Holy crap Randy!! My computer is shut down for the night so I'm having to view this on my phone but OMG those cuts look amazing!
I've only cut a few slices off of 1 rock so far and now I've got to go get my saw back out this week! I might need to order another box after seeing your awesome cuts!
WHOOHOO!!!

Krystee, I'm honestly considering purchasing another 120 pounds of this stuff. The amount of cabs that I could make would be in the hundreds (or thousands?) hell yeah.... and I think I need another hundred pounds of the gold sheen that you sent me ;D

So did you have to cut them at an angle to get the sheen? I have some afraid to cut as it seems to get the sheen I have to have a 45 degree angle. Yes/ No anyone else have this issue?

I really think that a box of rainbows would be something great to keep on hand... for a rainy day, you might say Groan! Beautiful stuff, Randy. Yeah, you need to get lots more of it. Jean

Cool stuff Randy! I have the same question as Kewlimages, is it kind of hit or miss to get the sheen to show right?

It's fairly simple once you figure this stuff out. You can see banding on most pieces, even without face-cutting. If you cut through the bands at an angle, you can see the flash through the different layers. If you don't see the flash, you just hold the slab in front of you in the light (sunlight works best) and turn the slab until you do see flash. Once you see it, draw an arrow pointing up. This will be the orientation of the cab.

Cool deal. First time I slabbed rainbow I was around 10. So I decided to get some more and ordered a couple bags from them myself but my honeydo list is 1745.56 miles long so needless to say I haven't got to it.
I keep telling her we need to sell this place and move to a crappy single wide trailer on 10 acres and just mow paths to the car and rock shed and spend time doing things we like vs. this modern day bs. I can't seem to convince her of this lol.

Finally gave in to the dark side after seeing Randy's photos and ordered a LFRB from Tony (about 37lbs). Got it on Saturday but haven't had time to do any slabbing. Looking forward to slabbing it.
Tony mentioned something about "several tons" of the stuff sitting in his driveway so when I emailed him, he responded almost immediately - "got your box ready"... LOL!
