Invasive by roots Randy.If you get say P. Henon,a good 40 foot tall hardy bamboo for your area,it can put up a cane 40 feet away.So it often has roots as far away as it's height,that are capable of sending a 40 foot cane up.It only comes up in April and May so it is not to terrible to control-in your yard.I used to sell a lot of it.Many were urban folks wanting to stick one in their nuisance neighbor.As Snuffy says-one way to get to know your neighbors:>
It will not grow under driveways and streets.That may help.

I have been asked to testify.It is an act of God.May check Virgina law.It grows toward the sun(warm soil).Cold soil will stop it in it's tracks(under a driveway for instance).
