Well gang, those of you that remember me know I've got a back that is as bad as a bad back can be. But, being disabled just wasn't enough for the good Lord to test me with. So, he allowed me the pleasure of having 3 count 'em 3 Heart "episodes" as they call heart attacks now days. I now know what real pain feels like! And the chronic back pain didn't help any!
The doc put in two stents, one inside the other so he could telescope them to cover a larger area.
I'm happy to say that I've not had any problems since.
I can't believe it's taken me 4 years to remember how to get here again!! But, I'm back and happy to be so. I've missed all of you and the wonderful things you post and do for each other when the need arrives.
I've gotten back full speed ahead tumbling and working with my "swap top" lapidary machine that you can use as a trim saw, a grinder, and a flat lap polisher.
I give talks about rock collecting, tumbling and polishing to the fourth graders at the school where my daughter teaches. The kids are great and really appreciate the polished rocks I pass out at the end of the talk. A little over 100 kids!! But I love doing it.
But, I've run into a problem. 3 of my "toy" tumblers have died and I don't have enough parts to get them working again.
So, I'm here on bended knee begging for anyone with a "toy" tumbler that is taking up space and gathering dust that could use a good home with plenty of stones to eat! The barrels used to be red but have now been changed to a thicker black plastics that seems to last longer before the rocks wear a hole through the kids. So if you have one that you have your kids and they turn up their noses at the thought of using them anytime in the next 20 years, I'd love to take them off your hands and adopt them. I'm hoping that next year before they start their study of the earth and the rocks that make up their world and the history they have played in our lives, that I would set up a tumbler in each room (4) to show them what tumbling is all about. They are usually a great bunch of kids that show more interest in the tumblers and what can be done with them than the dry history talk I give before moving on to the tumblers.
Let me know if you or someone you know that has one they'd love to get rid of....er donate to me and the kids at Startown Elementary.
E-mails would be quicker for me. Send them to jrtrio2001@yahoo.com
I look forward to hearing from you!
Man it's great to be alive! No really it is!
