Hello fellow Tumbling Enthusiasts ! We are going to be tumbling Labradorite soon, in our rotary tumbler, and wanted to find out if there are any tips/recommendations, since Labradorite is a softer stone (although not too soft, like Fluorite). I have read about adding an extra step between the pre-polish and polish, but is there anything else anyone might recommend? Many thanks, Cheers!

Here's a recipe I used when I tumbled some quite a few years ago: 60/90 (with pellets) until shaped, about 3 weeks with weekly recharges. 120/220, 8 days 500F, 8 days CPP polish (aluminum oxide), 11 days Use plastic pellets throughout to prevent chipping because all feldspars like to chip along their cleavage planes. Couple of pics of the results: The flash really depends on exact orientation... now you see it: Now you don't...

Thank you for the responses thus far! Are there any particular type of pellets that one would recommend? I've seen a few on The Rock Shed, so wanted to make sure I get the best for my Labs

I had a hard time with this one. The orientation was such that if it wasn't right, it wasn't coming out well... at all. Good luck!

When adding pellets, how much should one add to the barrel (for a 3lb size)?
