Really interesting stuff, June. Where abouts are located (generally)? I think you mentioned that you found this digging up in the local mountains. Thanks for posting the photos.
Thanks Paul

The location is called Kaner Flats. Off of Hwy 410. Going over Chinook Pass. There are actually several finds up there. This is a secondary location. I also find little thunder eggs beside this location. I put some pics up under little strones in tumbling section as I can't spell. I noticed that someone had gathered a truck load up and sold it to the local rock shop. Jerry Rock and Agate in Kent. Inquired to what their geologist thought is was. Greenwater Coral fossils. The primary location has thunder eggs. Probably way more information than you asked for.

well I guess the coral was in place before the rhyolitic flow that hosts the t-eggs. are the two deposits in different color host rock, or at different elevations at the site?

Wow very cool! Those look to me to be Thunderegg matrix and rhyolite just like the material from the Little Naches River area in Washington. I've collected very similar material up there as my sister in law has a ranch in Naches. Nothing to do with fossils at all. That stuff comes from volcanic ash beds. Here's a pic of a cab from the lighter colored Naches material, It comes in the green tones too. I have a big boulder of it in my garden. Very similar geology to Aussie Rainforest Jasper/rhyolite...Mel

That's a pretty awesome find! It's always interesting to read about others trips! Again, beautiful pieces. Thanks, Paul The location is called Kaner Flats. Off of Hwy 410. Going over Chinook Pass. Daniel I think we are in the same area. as that what I look for off of 410 is the naches river campground and turn off. The area up there is just full and wonderous finds. I don't know were I put comments that someone had been up there filled a pickup and sold it to Jerry's Rock and agate shop. Have you ever followed it back over on forest 70 to greenwater?

kewlimages: I turned off 410 to the right along the Little Naches River and went up forest road 1901 about 1.9 miles past junction with Forest road 723. I dug the high ash bank on the right side of the road heading up and man was it muddy on my last trip *L*. If the road starts to drop down into a forested canyon, you've gone too far. When I go up I'm traveling to and from my sis in laws cattle ranch back at Naches so have not traveled the route you mentioned...Mel
