I love this stone and didn't want to cut so I tried wrapping it. It's very simple but think I should go at it again. Suggestions? Attachments:

That stone is very cool. One suggestion is that when you begin and end a side wrap put the wrap to the inside where the stone is going to sit so you basically hide the ends of the wire and they won't catch on things when the pendant is worn. Are you using square wire for the wraps? I can't quite tell because the wraps look somehow twisted instead of flat to the sides although that could be the design you are going for which makes for interest too. The wrap itself is simple yet interesting with a good design. Keep up the good work.

You're gonna hate me, but if I were you, I would wait until I had more practice to wrap a larimar. Your wrap looks very good, esp for a beginner, but that's a pretty high end stone. Save it to pat yourself on the back with after you've worked a few of the bugs out. As already mentioned, work your ends so that they are hidden. You might want to get hold of some half round. You'll find binding is easier to do and neater looking. There will be less gap between your wrap and the stone, too, because it is thinner. (....stepping out of arm's reach now )

I use a .010 diamond blade to split stuff like that. That's a beautiful stone, I wouldn't be able to properly wrap it without splitting it first.

Beautiful stone and the wrap is good for a first try! Hang onto it as is because you will only get better from this point onward!

Thanks for all the advise and suggestions. After watching Randy's tut I realize I need to use half round and square wire. All my wraps are done with round. I will have to practise as I find the square and half round hard to wrap around and tight. But I am committed to learning the art.
