Thanks Chuck, Yeah, I am gonna have to make some cabs from it. Very unusual for this area. I took a better shot to show the pattern and actual (true) color. It has some fracturing, but plenty of solid areas. I think I will leave a nice large enough chunk for a tumbled specimen.

Great rocks. I have found nothing even close to the green Montana or whatever it is. I'll bet you could sell a truck load of that. Jim

I love Montana agate. It reminds me of moonstone with its translucence.

Very nice Bill! I especially like the green moss, those are few and far between.

Is the 5th one down a limb cast? Looks like you can see grain pattern. Great pieces. Thanks!

panamark, I believe it is a nodule, the banding does look like rings, but I have found a few of these over the years and they all seemed to be nodules. A lot of MT agate looks clear, and banding is seen only when there is a coloring mineral to make the bands show. The transition from clear to the honey color is common in these. local term is 'pepper agate' That one was a half-nodule, I had split it lengthwise along a fracture. I then (after quartering the nodule) took a small sharp chisel and tapped it apart along the fractures, For me that is the best way to get solid pieces to work with. Bill
